Question

How do I setup my iPhone or iPad with Office365?

Overview

Note: Instructions may vary depending on the version of the application you are using.

Update the iOS Mail application on an iPhone or iPad with these steps:

  1. Select Settings.
    • iPhone Settings Icon
  2. Select Mail.
    • Setting Menu
  3. Select Accounts.
    • Mail Settings
  4. Select Add Account.
    • Add Account
  5. Select Microsoft Exchange
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Account Type
  6. Enter your StarID:
    • If you are an employee, enter your StarID@minnstate.edu and name for this account. (Example: MNSU Email)
      • Employee login
    • If you are a student, alum, or emeritus, enter your StarID@go.minnstate.edu and name this account.
      • Student Login
  7. Select Next.
  8. Select Sign In
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Sign in
  9. Enter your StarID password and select Sign In
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Note:  The images show @go.minnstate.edu, but if you are an employee this would be @minnstate.edu.
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​enter password
  10. Enter your MFA code from the authenticator app, text, phone, or push to authenticate in the mobile app.
    • Note:  This method will depend on how you have MFA setup.

  11. Select Verify.
  12. Verify the permissions and make sure it shows Apple Inc. with the blue check mark.  Then select Accept.

  13. Select the items you want to sync with you phone.  The default is all the items below.
    • Sync apps
  14. Select Save.
  15. Verify that the new account exists
  16. Select your Mail application or the Outlook App
  17. Select Mailboxes
  18. Select MinnState or MSU E-Mail to see only emails from that account

Note: It may take some time to sync completely.

Optional: The standard mail days to sync is set at one month. If you would like access to saved emails older than one month, this setting will need to be changed.

  1. Open SettingsPasswords and Accounts just like steps 1 and 2 above
  2.  Access the newly created mailbox set up in the steps above
  3. Select Mail Days to Sync (should say 1 month)
