This article goes over how one may tackle malware on their device.

NOTE: Free version of Malwarebytes cannot be used at MSU. If you have a state asset and think you may have malware on your device, please Contact IT Solutions.

To download Malwarebytes for your personal device, follow the steps below.

Installation and Usage

1) Download the Malwarebytes free download from http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/

2) Click on Download Free under For Windows or For Mac if you are using a Mac

3) Select personal or work computer

4)To begin the setup, click Install.

5) Click Skip this for Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Free

6) Malwarebytes will Install, click Get started

7) Click Finish.

8) Malwarebytes should open up the dashboard show below. Click the Scan tab at the middle of the dashboard.

9) Scan will start

10) Review Threat Scan results. Record the folder path as the Quarantine button will not work on the free trial version. Once you have located the item in question, delete it.
