Question
How do I create an Analytic rubric?
Overview
- Click the Assessments menu in the navbar.
- Click Rubrics.
- Click New Rubric.
- Enter a Name for your rubric.
- The default Type is Analytic rubric.
- Analytic rubrics provides the ability to add multiple criteria within a rubric. Analytic rubrics use columns to display levels of achievement and rows to display assessment criteria. Analytic rubrics can use points or text only scoring methods and may use both text and points to assess performance. The Overall Score is provided based on the total number of points achieved and determines if students meet the criteria. Teachers can manually override the Overall Score of the rubric.
- Choose the Scoring option. Points is the default option.
- No Score: Levels are indicated by text only (e.g., "Exceeds", "Meets", "Does Not Yet Meet", etc.). No numerical values are associated with levels.
- Points: Levels use text and point values (e.g., "Exceeds (100 points)", "Meets (75 points)", etc). Point values are the same across criteria.
- Custom Points: Similar to the Points scoring method, but points given for each criterion can be customized. For example, the "Content" of the assignment might be worth 10 of the available points while "Spelling and Grammar" might be worth 5.
- By default, there will be 4 Levels (rows) and 3 Criteria:
- To add Rubric levels, click the + Add new level before button or + Add new levels after button.
- To add more Criteria, click + Add Criterion and enter the criterion name.
- To add a Criteria Group, click the + Add Criteria Group button. Note: Criteria Groups allow you to customize the number of levels for a set of criteria. For example, "Content" and "Sources" criteria have 6 levels and worth 10 points each, and "Spelling and Grammar" and "APA Format" criteria have 4 levels and are worth 5 points

- To delete Rubric levels, click the trash can icon next to the level.

- Add a description of each criterion Level. Optional: Add Initial Feedback for that level that will be entered automatically into the feedback text box when assessing learner submissions.
