Overview
This article explains how to manually update the Zoom app when it is running an outdated version or incorrectly reports that it is up to date. On university-owned devices, Zoom is normally updated automatically through ManageEngine.
If automatic updates fail or Zoom does not reflect the latest version, follow the steps below to uninstall and reinstall the Zoom app manually.
Environment
- State-Owned Devices: Equipment provided to university employees and managed by Minnesota State University, Mankato. ," The steps, tools, or solutions in this article may not work on personal devices due to administrative restrictions or licensing requirements.
How-To
Windows
- Uninstall Zoom Workplace App by going to Add or Remove Programs
- Select the Zoom Workplace App and Uninstall
- Once completed, download the latest Zoom app from Zoom's website.
Mac
- Open the Zoom desktop app.
- At the top of your screen in the toolbar, select zoom.us or Zoom Workplace (6.0.0 and higher).
- In the drop-down menu select Uninstall Zoom or Zoom Workplace (6.0.0 and higher).
- Select OK to confirm uninstalling the Zoom desktop application and all of its components.
- Once completed, download the latest Zoom app from Zoom's website.

Outcome
After completing these steps, the Zoom app will be updated to the latest version and function correctly on your state-owned device.
