Overview

This article explains when and how departments should enter registration overrides in ARSA, including required rules, permissions, and edit codes. It provides clear step-by-step instructions while emphasizing departmental boundaries and safeguards to ensure overrides are entered correctly and appropriately.

How to Enter Registration Overrides in ARSA

Instructors can enter certain registration overrides for their courses using Faculty Application. However, some overrides must be submitted in ARSA. These typically include overrides related to student holds or special course specific situations that cannot be processed elsewhere.

Important Information

  • Enter overrides only for courses or holds within your own area.
  • Never override the add/drop/withdrawal deadline for a course.
  • Never adjust, add, remove, or delete an override that was entered by another department or area.
  • Academic departments should not override student holds, such as:
  • Warning, Probation, Athletics, Veterans, Immunizations, and other non-academic holds

If you are unsure whether an override is appropriate or allowed, contact the Registration Help Desk (507-389-2252) before proceeding.

Common Department Edit Codes

Use the following edit codes when submitting departmental overrides:

  • 000012 – Special permission (e.g., permission-based courses, registration appeals)
  • 000013 – Course is full
  • 000022 – Time conflict (e.g., student arriving late due to overlapping class times)
  • 000024 – Upper-division or program permission required (for individual course)
  • 000061 – Register for multiple course schedules
  • 000068 – Override test score or prerequisite
  • 000042 – Override for a cross-listed course that is full

ARSA Override Instructions

Follow these steps to enter an override in ARSA:

  1. Go to Employee Home
  2. Open ARSA.
  3. Select Student.
  4. Enter the appropriate Year/Term for the override.
  5. Enter the student’s Tech ID.
  6. Click Display Student Information.
  7. Select the Override Edits tab.
  8. Click Add.
  9. Enter the required override information:
    1. Edit code

  10. Click Submit Override.

Hold Overrides Note

  • Both an edit code and a parameter are required for hold-related overrides.
  • The parameter must correspond to the correct hold code.

DO NOT change, remove, or delete any previous overrides, regardless of who entered them.
