Overview

This article explains how instructors can add a password to a quiz in D2L Brightspace. Adding a password restricts quiz access so that students must enter the correct password before starting the quiz attempt.

Password-protected quizzes are commonly used for proctored exams or controlled testing environments.

How-To

Add a password to a quiz in D2L Brightspace.

Create a password for students to enter before taking a quiz:

  1. After editing the quiz, click the Availability, Dates and Conditions menu to expand it.
  2. In the empty text box right below the Password heading, enter your preferred password. In the example D2LHelp is entered as the password.
  3. Save and Close the Quiz.

Note: In the quiz list, there will be a key symbol next to the title, to indicate there is a password set on this quiz.

Outcome

After completing these steps, students will be required to enter the password before beginning the quiz. A key icon will appear next to the quiz title in the quiz list, indicating that a password is set.
