This article provides instructions on using the name pronunciation feature in Microsoft 365, which allows users to record their voice and share how their name is pronounced on their profile cards in Teams and Outlook.

How-To

This feature can be set up in Microsoft Teams or Outlook, and the pronunciation will sync across both platforms. Users need only complete the steps in one application or the other.

Instructions for Microsoft Teams

Step 1 - Launch Microsoft Teams and select your profile icon located in the upper right corner

Step 2 - Hover over your account info, then click View your profile. Do not select View account.

Step 3 - Click the microphone icon located next to your name at the top of the window. If asked, provide permission to allow access to your microphone.

Step 4 - Record your voice, then click Stop to end the recording. Click Play to review the recording.

Instructions for New Microsoft Outlook

Note: These instructions work in New Outlook, not Classic Outlook or the web app.

Step 1 - Open New Microsoft Outlook and start a New Mail message.

Step 2 - Add yourself as a recipient in the TO field

Step 3 - Hover over your name in the TO field, then click the microphone icon. If asked, provide permission to allow access to your microphone.

Step 4 - Record your voice, then click Stop to end the recording. Click Play to review the recording.

Outcome

The user's voice will be recorded in the Name Pronunciation feature and displayed on their profile card in Teams and Outlook.
