Overview
YuJa Panorama is an accessibility remediation tool integrated into D2L Brightspace that analyzes documents--such as PDFs, Word files, and PowerPoint presentations--for digital accessibility compliance. This article provides instructions for reviewing and understanding reports, making changes, and creating new formats.
Importantly, YuJa Panorama will not catch all accessibility issues - human review is necessary.
Faculty View of YuJa Panorama Icons in D2L
Within D2L Brightspace, your content and files will have an accessibility icon indicating a score next to the title. (Note: Students will see a standard blue circle icon,
not the score.)
Four icons may be displayed in D2L Brightspace content:
Blue hexagon
= High level of accessibility (scores above 80)
Yellow triangle
= Moderate level of accessibility (scores between 60-80)
Red pentagon
= Low level of accessibility (scores below 60)
Gray circle
= No content available to scan (non-applicable)

Viewing Accessibility Reports
To review the Accessibility Report:
- Click on the accessibility icon next to the content.
- At the top of the menu, select the Accessibility Report (Figure below).
- You will see two numbers - the first (Figure 1) is the Accessibility Score.
- The second (Figure 2) is the number of accessibility issues in the file.

Understanding the Accessibility Report
Each document receives a score from 0 to 100, based on factors such as:
- Use of headings
- Alt text for images
- Table structure
- Color contrast
YuJa categorizes issues by severity:
- Severe Issues: The document is not accessible (e.g., the PDF is untagged).
- Major Issues: These significantly affect accessibility (e.g., missing alt text, improper use of headings).
- Minor Issues: These are less critical but still worth addressing (e.g., decorative images without alt text).
Making Changes
Start by fixing severe and major issues when possible; this will quickly improve your score and make your content more usable for all learners. Click on the Accessibility Report to see the accessibility issues and make revisions.
- The first part of the Accessibility Report shows a summary of the accessibility issues.
- The second part of the Accessibility Report shows the individual issues and provides options to Check Issue or Fix Issue.
- As you make revisions, they will appear in the third part of the Accessibility Report. Once you are done making revisions, be sure to click Apply Changes.
Creating Alternative Formats
- To review the available formats, click on the thumbnail for the file.
- To select a format, hover over it and select Generate.
- Several alternative formats are available, depending on the original file. Formats may include: Text File, Gradient Reader, Audio Podcast, Language Translations, PDF, Immersive Reader, EPUB, OCR formats, and Braille.
- Once processed, new options will appear: View, Download, and Reprocess.
