Summary

This article explains how to read your student degree audit report and what the various colors and symbols mean.

Body

Overview

A Degree Audit (DARs) is a tool that tracks your progress toward completing your degree requirements. It displays all requirements for your currently declared academic program and helps you see what has been completed and what still needs to be done.

What Information Is Included in the Degree Audit?

The degree audit shows:

  • Requirements for your declared major(s).
  • Requirements for any declared minor(s) or certificate(s).
  • Other applicable graduation requirements, such as university graduation requirements, general education, and double majors or additional academic programs.

What Do the Colors Mean?

The degree audit uses a color-coded system to help you quickly understand your progress:

Table that describes what each color means on the degree audit and actions needed.
Status  Meaning  Action Needed
Complete (Green)  The course or requirement has been successfully completed and counts toward your degree.  No action needed.
In Progress (Blue)  You are currently enrolled in the course or are actively completing the requirement.  Continue working toward completion.
Planned (Purple)  The course has been added to your Graduation Planner and is planned for a future term.  Register and complete the course in the planned semester.
Not Yet Completed (Red)  The course or requirement has not been fulfilled and is still needed for graduation.  Schedule and complete the requirement.

What Do the Symbols Mean?

The audit uses corresponding symbols alongside the colors to indicate status and that a legend appears at the bottom of the audit. These symbols identify whether a course is:

  • Check Mark Icon: Complete
  • Ellipse Icon: In Progress
  • Calendar Icon: Planned for a Future Semester
  • “X” Icon: Not Yet Completed

Planned Courses Feature

The degree audit integrates with Graduation Planner, allowing students to map out future semesters until graduation. Planned courses appear in the audit with the term (year/semester) when you expect to take them.

Important Reminder

The degree audit is a valuable planning tool, but it does not replace academic advising. Students should still meet with an advisor before registering each semester to ensure they are taking courses in the appropriate sequence and meeting all requirements.
