Customizing Hold Music for Zoom Phones

Overview

This article provides instructions for employees to select or upload their own Music on Hold for Zoom Phone. This feature customizes what callers hear while they are on hold.

Environment

  • State-Owned Devices: Equipment provided to university employees and managed by Minnesota State University, Mankato. ," The steps, tools, or solutions in this article may not work on personal devices due to administrative restrictions or licensing requirements. 

How-To

Change the on-hold music in Zoom Phone:

  1. Sign in to the Minnesota State Zoom web portal using your StarID credentials.

  2. From the left navigation menu, select Phone.

  3. On the top navigation bar, select Settings.

  4. Scroll to the Hold Music section, then select Edit.

  5. Choose from the available options to set or upload hold music:

    • Choose from Asset Library: Select audio that has been previously uploaded and click Save.

    • Add Audio: Choose one of the following:

      • Text to Speech: Type a message that will be read to the caller on hold, then select Add.

      • Upload: Upload an MP3 or WAV file (under 10MB) and select Add. Ensure you have permission and/or a license to use any music or audio you upload.

      • Record by Computer: Record a message using your desk phone or computer microphone, then select Add.

  6. Select the file name to preview the hold music that will play for callers.

Outcome

After completing these steps, your Zoom Phone will play your selected audio or music to callers placed on hold.
