How do I install the Citrix Workspace for use with MavAPPS on Windows?

**MavAPPS is only available for Students and Faculty**

Overview

NOTE:  MavAPPS is currently only available if you are on campus (Mankato or Edina) or if you are using the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client.  Please view the knowledge articles below if you need assistance using or installing the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client.

There are two methods for accessing MavAPPS:

• Citrix Workspace App (preferred method)
• MavAPPS Website

Both methods use Citrix Workspace, but the web method can have a few more issues due to it needing to use some browser add-ons to make things work.  Those add-ons might need to be reactivated in the browser each time the Citrix Workspace app updates or if the browser updates.  That is the primary reason we recommend using the full application that is installed onto the operating system.

Method 1 Citrix Workspace:

1. Download the Windows Citrix Workspace App from:  https://citrix.com/downloads/workspace-app/windows/workspace-app-for-windows-latest.html
2. Go to the location your browser downloads items to and locate and double-click on the CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe.
3. This should launch the install and you should see the window below.  Click on the Start button to start the install.

4. On the License Agreement screen select the checkbox for I accept the license agreement and click on Next for the next few screens until you get to the Install button.
   • 
5. Click on Install.
   • 
6. The install should run and once it is completed you should get the screen below that the Installation was successful.  Then click on Add Account.
   • 
7. Where it shows Enter your Store URL or email address, enter mavapps.mnsu.edu and click on Continue.
   • Note:  Your email address will not work.
   • 
8. You should get a login prompt for the Citrix Workspace app.
9. Enter your StarID and password and click on Log On.
   • 
10. This should bring you into your MavAPPS Store and display the applications you have access to.
    • Note:  You may see more or less applications depending on what department/classes you are in or if you are an employee or student.
11. Please see the section below on using the applications in MavAPPS.

Method 2 MavAPPS Website:

Depending on if you have used MavAPPS before or not you may get Option 1 or 2.

Option 1:

1. You will get this if you have used MavAPPS before.  Enter your StarID and password.
2. This should bring you into your MavAPPS Store and display the applications you have acces to.
   • Note:  You may see more or less applications depending on what department/classes you are in or if you are an employee or student.
3. Please see the section below on using the applications in MavAPPS.

Option 2:

1. Click on Detect Citrix Workspace app.
   • 
2. If it goes to a login screen, go up to Option 1 as it means you already have the application installed.  If you get the screen below click on I agree with the Citrix license agreement and click on Download.
   • 
3. This will download the CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe to your default browser download location.
4. Go to the location your browser downloads items to and locate and double-click on the CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe.
5. This should launch the install and you should see the window below.  Click on the Start button to start the install.

6. On the License Agreement screen select the checkbox for I accept the license agreement and click on Next for the next few screens until you get to the screen where the Next button changes to Install.

7. Click on Install.
   • 
8. The install should run and once it is completed you should get the screen below that the Installation was successful.  Then click on Finish.
   • 
9. Go back to the browser you were using and you should see the screen below.  Click on the Continue button.
   • 
10. Depending on the browser, you should see something like this below.  Check the check box for Always allow mavapps.mnsu.edu to open links of this type in the associated app.  Then click on Open.

11. Then click on the Log On button.
    • 
12. You should be prompted for you login information.  Enter your StarID and password.
13. Click on OK.
    • 
14. This should bring you into your MavAPPS Store and display the applications you have access to.
    • Note:  You may see more or less applications depending on what department/classes you are in or if you are an employee or student.

Using the applications in MavAPPS:

1. After logging into the Citrix MavAPPS, double click on the icon of the program you'd like to use.
   • 
2. The program will now start within the Citrix Workspace. The view will be of a program running as if it were running in Windows. 
   • 
3. To quit out of the program you're running, click the X button in the upper right corner.

Can't start App Error (Website Method):

You may need to use Method 1 above or if you already have Citrix Workspace installed and are already logged into the web portal you can use the automated configuration tool. 

1. Sign in to the MavApps using the directions that we used above for method 2.
2. Click the Gear Icon on the top right corner to get a drop down menu.
3. Click on Account Settings from the drop down menu.
4. Then click on Activate Citrix Workspace app to download the config.
   • 
5. Go to your browsers default download location.
   • Note:  This is most likely the Downloads folder.
6. Double click on the receiverconfig.cr file.
7. You should should get a Citrix Workspace window that pops up asking if you want to Cancel or Agree.  Click on Agree.
   • 
8. Citrix Workspace should launch and prompt you for a login.  Login with your StarID and password.
   • 
9. This should bring you into your MavAPPS Store and display the applications you have access to.
   • Note:  Some people may see more or less applications depending on what department/classes they are in or if you are an employee or student.

11. To run this going forward you would go to your applications folder.  Then locate and double click on Citrix Workspace.
