What are the requirements for Microsoft Copilot and how can I access Copilot?

Microsoft Copilot is available to students, faculty and staff in several methods and levels of integration. 

  1. Copilot Conversational Chat AI is available for FREE:
            a. Microsoft Windows 11 and Edge browser.
            b. Using an Internet browser and going to https://copilot.microsoft.com 
    - Copilot through these methods are  FREE to students, faculty and staff.
    - Requirements are WIndows 11 for Copilot in the taskbar, Microsoft Edge for integration within Edge, or any Internet browser visiting  https://copilot.microsoft.com 
    - Sign in to Copilot using your StarID@go.minnstate.edu to keep your conversations and generated images, and to make your interaction private.
  2. Copilot integrated into Microsoft Office Apps:
    - Microsoft Copilot license - $360.00 per year per user. Contact IT Solutions for license purchase. (NOTE: a few Copilot licenses are available through ITS for departments wishing to test Copilot (while limited license are still available).
    - Requires Microsoft Office ProPlus or Microsoft Office 2024 for Windows and macOS. (NOTE: an upgrade to Microsoft Office 2022 will be need for Copilot integration.) Contact IT Solutions for the Microsoft Office upgrade to ProPlus or 2024.
    - Outlook (New) version.
  3. Copilot Studio:
    - Licenses are free for students, faculty and staff.
    - Contact IT Solutions to have a Copilot Studio applied to your account.

**Copilot licenses can be purchased for individuals by contacting IT Solutions. The cost of each license is $360.00 / year and can be cancelled in May of each year if they decide not to continue Copilot. Note that the cost is prorated from August 1st so the first year will be a partial-year subscription. **
