This article provides step-by-step instructions for faculty on how to enable Respondus LockDown Browser for quizzes in D2L Brightspace. LockDown Browser is a custom browser that secures the testing environment by preventing students from accessing other applications or browser features during an exam.
How-To
Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within D2L Brightspace Quizzes.
To set-up LockDown Browser:
- Navigate to your D2L Brightspace course.
- Click the Assessments menu on the course homepage.
- Click Quizzes from the menu.
Note: You will need to create your Quiz before setting up LockDown Browser.
- Click the LockDown Browser tab.
- You will see a LockDown Browser start page, click Continue to LockDown Browser.
Note: Sometimes it takes several minutes for this page to load. Wait 5 minutes and then refresh the page if it still does not load.
- Click the arrow next to the Quiz you wish to set-up LockDown Browser in.
- Click Settings from the menu.
- Select Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam.
- Check or Uncheck Require LockDown Browser to view feedback and results according to your preference.
- Click the Plus + sign next to Advanced Settings.
- Check Allow students to take this exam with an iPad if you wish students to be able to use iPads.
- Check the box next to any additional additional advanced settings you wish to allow.
- Click the Save + Close button.
Outcome
After completing these steps, the selected quiz will require Respondus LockDown Browser, ensuring a secure testing environment for students in D2L Brightspace.
