Overview

eduroam is the preferred secure Wi-Fi network for all students, faculty and staff of MSU to use with their personally owned devices. Enroll your device to enjoy Wi-Fi access throughout this campus as well as other eduroam-participating institutions.

To connect your Android device to eduroam, you must have an active StarID account and Internet access. MavGUEST can be used if available.

NOTE: Directions and screen shots may differ depending on the phone

 

Androids

 

For older versions see Samsung Android version 10.0 and Older

 

Samsung New Versions  (Jump to Video Tutorial)
  1. From the device that you are trying to connect to eduroam, make sure the device has internet access.
  2. Using Chrome browser, navigate directly to wifi.mnsu.edu (available from on or off campus)
  3. Select Download and download SecureW2 JoinNow

  1. Go back to the webpage and Select JoinNow
  2. Sign in with your StarID@go.minnstate.edu and password (for students, alumni, and emeritus) or StarID@minnstate.edu and password (for current employees)
  3. On the next screen, select Continue > You should see screen that says Enrolling..
  4. On the next screen, select Next > Save
  5. Tap on Go to Wi-Fi Settings to verify eduroam connected successfully

Samsung 10.0 and Older

  1. From the device that you are trying to connect to eduroam, make sure the device has internet access.
  2. Using Chrome browser, navigate directly to wifi.mnsu.edu (available from on or off campus)
  3. Select Download and download SecureW2 JoinNow

  3. On the next screen, select Continue > You should see screen that says Enrolling..
  4. Once the device is done enrolling, you should see the image below:

  1. Tap on Go to Wi-Fi Settings
  2. A notification should appear in the notification bar > To view the notification scroll downwards from the top of your phone 
  3. Tap on the down arrow next to the notification called Android System Connect to Wi-Fi networks? Suggest by JoinNow MultiOS 
  4. Tap on Yes

  1. eduroam should then connect successfully if eduroam is available where your Android device is located.

 

Your Android device is now set up to use eduroam. It will work wherever you are throughout the world that an eduroam network is available if you are a current student or employee at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Changing your StarID password will not require any Wi-Fi related updates on your Android device.
