Prospective Student Frequently Asked Questions

Overview

In Navigate360, a prospective student refers to a student who is considering attending a particular school or institution, but has not yet officially applied or enrolled. They may be visiting the campus, attending informational sessions, or researching the school's programs.

FAQ

Does Navigate360 automatically merge prospective and enrolled records for the same student?

No, merging is not automatic. Merging must be done manually. Given that merging cannot be undone, this function currently lies with the application administrators. Email mavconnect@mnsu.edu for assistance when you find an account that may need to be merged.

Which fields does Navigate360 use to match a student who potentially has BOTH a Prospective and Enrolled Student Profile in the system?

The student must match four of the five: First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Email, and Zip Code. Please note that because emails are unlikely to match between the prospective and enrolled profiles, zip code will probably need to match exactly, just like first name, last name, and date of birth.

Can Prospective Students be deleted?

Any user can be deleted from Navigate360 by contacting mavconnect@mnsu.edu. Please include the student’s name and date of birth and the reasoning for why the prospective file should be deleted (vs. merged.)

Can Students with a “Prospective” Student Profile use Student Navigate360 for scheduling and information?

No, only enrolled (GRAD level) or admitted students (UG level) will be able to use the Student Navigate360 app / Student Navigate360 desktop login. Student access to these sites is done via their standard starid@go.minnstate.edu credentials and will not be available to them until they have been admitted and given an incoming student cohort (and given student credentials, UG level) or they have registered for classes and re-activated their student credentials (Grad level). (See the article below for more info.)

In the meantime, staff can schedule appointments with students but note that the student may get the notification email to the email address on file (personal), but they will not be able to cancel or reschedule via the links enclosed. Doing so would require their starid@go.minnstate.edu credentials.

Once a student’s real student profile gets activated or reactivated, students would regain access to Navigate360

Still Need Help?

At this time, only Navigate360 administrators have Merge access so if you find profiles that may need to be merged, please email mavconnect@mnsu.edu with the student’s

name, TechID or StarID if available, and any other information that could be helpful.
