Turnitin: Log in/Access Turnitin.com

Question

How can I get a Turnitin.com instructor account? How do I access Turnitin.com outside of D2L Brightspace?

Overview

If you HAVE previously used Turnitin within a D2L Brightspace Assignments folder, then you already have a Turnitin.com account. 

If you HAVE NOT previously used Turnitin with a D2L Brightspace assignment folder, you have 2 options:

1. You can create a test folder within any semester course if it was held within the last year.
   1. You may want to use a course that is closed to students.
   2. Use this helpful article to set-up a test folder with Turnitin in your course.
2. Alternatively, you may choose to submit a ticket to request an account in Turnitin.com:
   1. Navigate to IT Solutions Service Portal and click Submit a Quick Ticket.
   2. Submit a ticket with the following information:
      1. Subject: Request for a Turnitin.com instructor account outside of D2L Brightspace
      2. Details: Please create a Turnitin.com instructor account for me that I can access outside of D2L Brightspace. Here is my information:
         1. First Name
         2. Last Name
         3. Email: firstname.lastname@mnsu.edu

Login to Turnitin.com

Once you have an account, follow the steps below to change your password for Turnitin.com.

You will need to follow a few easy steps to access your account on Turnitin.com:

1. Navigate to http://turnitin.com/
2. Click on the login link in the upper right-hand corner
3. Under the email and password boxes, click on the Forgot your password? Click here button

4. Enter your firstname.lastname@mnsu.edu email address and the last name associated with your D2L Brightspace account
5. Click Next.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen until you can login with your @mnsu.edu email and your new password
