Description
IT Solutions investigates and responds to information security incidents affecting University systems, accounts, data, and technology resources to contain threats, minimize impact, and protect University information and technology assets. This includes phishing, malware and virus infections, compromised accounts and systems, copyright and policy violations, and other cybersecurity incidents.
Key Features
- Account and Email Compromise: Investigate suspected compromises of StarID and email accounts and assist with remediation to resolve the issue and prevent further unauthorized access.
- Asset Recovery: Work with University Security and, when appropriate, local law enforcement to locate and recover lost, stolen, or missing University-owned technology assets.
- Copyright Violation Notice: Investigate alleged copyright infringement notifications and determine the source of the activity. Appropriate action will be taken based on investigation findings.
- Cybersecurity Incident Investigation: Investigate potential violations of Minnesota State technology acceptable use and security policies (Minnesota State Board Policy 5.22 and Board Policy 5.23).
- Malware and Virus Remediation: Investigate reports or suspected malware and virus infections and work with customers and IT support staff to remediate affected systems.
- System Compromise: Investigate suspected compromises of University-owned systems and work with system owners to identify, remediate, and prevent further compromise.
