Accessible Student Learning with the YuJa Panorama Icon in D2L

Overview

YuJa Panorama helps you access course materials in formats that suit your needs. You can change how text looks, listen to an audio podcast of the document, or translate materials into another language.

What is the YuJa Panorama Icon?

In your D2L courses, you may notice a small blue icon that looks like a person inside a circle to the right of many course file documents—such as PDFs, Word documents, and PowerPoint slides. This is the YuJa Panorama icon. When you click it, you can open tools that make the files easier to read, hear, or understand. 

How To Use YuJa Panorama:

  1. Navigate to your Course Content area in D2L.  
  2. Look for files uploaded by your instructor. 
  3. Next to supported files, you’ll see the accessibility icon—a person inside a blue circle—symbolizing accessibility. Blue circle icon with a stick figure inside.
  4. Click the icon to open the Alternative Formats menu.
  5. Choose the format you want.

Available Formats

You may see options such as:

  • Translation – view the document in another language
  • Immersive Reader – customizable text settings and audio playback for help with reading and focus 
  • Text file – removes formatting for simplified reading
  • Audio podcast  – listen to the document
  • EPUB – read on mobile devices or e-readers
  • Electronic Braille – for students using Braille devices

Select your preferred format. Note that some may take a moment to generate.
