Non-Resident Tuition and Veterans
No matter a veteran’s residency, all eligible U.S. military veterans are treated as Minnesota residents for undergraduate tuition (2006 Military and Veterans Enactments, Minnesota Legislature).
Current and former members of the U.S. military, their spouses, and dependent children, or any persons meeting the eligibility requirements are entitled to resident tuition rates under the Section 702 Choice Act. For additional information, please see MinnState Board Procedure 2.2.2.
Eligible veterans going to graduate school are treated as residents if the person was a resident upon entering the military and starts the graduate program within two years of completing military service.
Please note: This will change the amount of tuition you are charged but will not change your legal residency. For additional information, please contact Registration and Academic Records.
