Overview

Classified Employment

AFSCME Council 5 (Units 202, 203, 204, 206 & 207)

Includes the (202) Craft Maintenance and Labor Unit, (203) Service Unit, (204) Health Care Non-professional Unit, (206) Clerical and Office Unit, and the (207) Technical Unit.

Nonrepresented Employees Compensation Plan (Formerly Commissioner's Plan)

Covers all non-managerial classified and unclassified employees (except unclassified employees of the legislative and judicial branches) who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement and who are not otherwise provided for in law. (Units 213 and 217)

Managerial Plan (MMB) (Unit 220)

Covers all classified and unclassified employees in positions identified by the Commissioner of Employee Relations as managerial.

Minnesota Association of Professional Employees (MAPE) (Unit 214)

This bargaining unit includes professional employees who perform a wide array of specialized, professional services from accounting to zoology. This is the largest state bargaining unit and has approximately 9900 employees.

Middle Management Association (MMA) (Unit 216)

This bargaining unit is comprised of supervisory employees who provide professional and technical services and also supervise employees in all state agencies. The unit contains approximately 2800 supervisors.

Minnesota Government Engineers Council (MGEC) (Unit 212)

This unit includes the registered engineers who provide professional engineering services to state agencies in transportation, natural resources, pollution control, and other areas. This unit includes approximately 800 employees.

Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) (Unit 205)

This bargaining unit is comprised of registered nurses who provide direct nursing care in state operated health facilities and provide public nursing and regulatory services throughout Minnesota. The unit contains approximately 800 registered nurses.

Unclassified Employment

Inter-Faculty Organization (Unit 209)

This unit is comprised of the instructional faculty members at all of Minnesota's state universities (excluding the University of Minnesota.) (Unit 209)
