User Account Management (Including Log-In and Multifactor Authentication)

The StarID and password are login credentials used for accessing services at Minnesota State University, Mankato. A StarID is automatically created for current employees, enrolled students, students enrolled in an orientation session, degree awarded alumni, and emeritus staff. A StarID must be requested for cohort affiliates to use services at the University.

Current or New StarID is Not Working

IT Solutions can assist in finding a solution when a current or new StarID doesn't work at one or more of the University's services.

Incorrect, Duplicate StarID, or Core Merge

Individuals must only have one StarID. If two or more were accidentally issued to the same individual within the MinnState system, duplication must be resolved. IT Solutions can help resolve this issue. Note: Students that are also employees, and employees that are also students, may have two different methods to login with the same StarID.

Multi-Factor Authentication

In order to better protect you, your data, and our campus network from security threats, multi-factor authentication for your Microsoft Office 365 account is required for all Minnesota State University, Mankato users. You must use a second verification method along with your StarID and password to sign in to your Microsoft Office 365 account and any apps that use Microsoft Office 365 for login.

Request a New or Retain a Current StarID

Affiliate cohorts must request a StarID via a current staff member to use the University's services including MavCARD/card access and email. Affiliated cohorts include bank employees, bookstore employees, CE teachers, consultants, dining services employees, Military Science/ROTC, Otto Rec employees, religious institutions, RSO advisors, TOSA, or visiting scholars.  

Current Students, Faculty, or Staff StarID accounts are created automatically. If it has not, IT Solutions can help resolve.
