Using the Tech Checker App on Windows Computers

Overview

This article outlines how employees can use the Tech Checker app on their state-owned Windows computers to check if their computer meets the necessary criteria to update to Windows 11 or if it will need to be replaced. Users can run the Tech Checker app any time on their own.

Environment

State-Owned Windows Devices: Equipment provided to university employees and managed by Minnesota State University, Mankato. The steps, tools, or solutions in this article may not work on personal devices due to administrative restrictions or licensing requirements. 

How-To

How to locate and run the Tech Checker app on a Windows device.

Instructions

  1. Locate the Tech Checker icon on the desktop. The Tech Checker icon will appear as a purple circle with a white laptop and gold check mark.
  2. Double-click the icon to run it.

Outcome

Once the Tech Checker runs, it will open a new window that provides more information.
