Using Transferology to See How Your Credits Transfer to MSU, Mankato

Overview

This article walks you step by step through using Transferology to see how your previous courses, exams, or military credits may transfer to MSU, Mankato and apply toward a specific major. It’s helpful for prospective and current transfer students who want a quick, unofficial preview of how their credits might count toward a degree before applying or meeting with an advisor.

1. Access Transferology 
   1. Go to the Transferology website. 
2. Create Your Account 
   1. Click Get Started to create your account. You can make a free account using:  
      1. Your email address 
      2. Your Microsoft, Apple, or Google log in 
3. Follow the steps on the screen to finish creating your account. 
4. Enter Your Courses, Exams, or Military Credits 
   1. Entering Non‑MinnState Courses (Examples: University of Minnesota, out‑of‑state schools, private colleges) 
      1. Search for the school. 
      2. Choose the semester when you took the class. 
      3. Search for the class using the department abbreviation (for example: ENG, MATH, BIO). 
      4. Click the plus (+) sign to add the class. 
      5. Use the same steps to add AP exams or military credits. 
   2. Entering MinnState Courses 
      1. Search for the MinnState school. 
      2. Select Import Your Courses. 
      3. Confirm that you will be taken to another page. 
      4. Log in with your Star ID and password. 

You may see one of these messages: 

• Courses sent to Transferology — your classes were added 
• No courses found — nothing was available to import 
• Something went wrong – transcript not sent — try again later 

5. Log out and return to Transferology. 
6. Repeat these steps for any other MinnState schools you attended.  
7. Search for Matches 
   1. Click Search for Matches in the upper‑right corner. 
   2. Choose MSU, Mankato from the list. 
8. View How Your Courses Apply to a Major 
   1. Find the program you want. 
   2. On the right side, click View Program Information. 
   3. Find your major in the list and select it. 
   4. Click See how your courses might count toward this program. 
   5. If you need to add more courses, choose Yes. If not, choose No. 
   6. Confirm that you understand this is only an estimate, not an official evaluation. 
9.  View Your Unofficial Degree Audit 
   1. At the top of the page, click Programs. 
   2. Click the program name to see your preliminary, unofficial estimate of how your courses may transfer.
