Updating or Reassigning a State Asset to a New Owner or Department

Overview

This article is for employees and provides an overview of how to update state asset information for university devices that have changed ownership.

Environment

State-Owned Devices: Equipment provided to university employees and managed by Minnesota State University, Mankato. The steps, tools, or solutions in this article may not work on personal devices due to administrative restrictions or licensing requirements. 

How-To

The steps below will enable you to update the department or owner of a state asset device:

  1. Contact IT Solutions Center at 507-389-6654 or email itsolutionscenter@mnsu.edu
  2. Provide who and what department the computer is currently listed as its owner
  3. Provide IT Solutions with the Make and Model of the computer, Asset Tag number, Serial Number
  4. Provide IT Solutions with who and what department is this computer going to

Outcome

Once the ticket is completed, the information for the state asset device will be updated to the new department and owner.
