D2L Brightspace: Share a Development Course

Question

What is one way to share my D2L Brightspace course with another faculty or Teacher's Assistant(TA)? What is a Development course?

Overview

Instructor and Teacher's Assistant roles can request a development course, copy their materials into it, and then request enrollment of a colleague to share the materials.

What is a development course?

  • A development course is not tied to a university course and does not contain student data.
  • The purpose of the course is to develop course materials for use in a "live" University course.
  • You can also use development courses to share materials or collaborate with colleagues on course design.
  • Note: Development courses are subject to deletion during our regular maintenance schedule.

Share course materials in a development course

There are three steps to share course materials in a development course:

  1. Request a development course – there are two options:
  • Ticket: Submit a Ticket
  • Self-Service: Create a Development course automatically using the Request Help widget on the D2L Brightspace homepage.
  1. Copy components: Find the course in the Development tab/semester in My Courses, then follow the steps in this article to copy components into your course.
  2. Share the development course: Request enrollment of an Instructor or Teacher's Assistant in the Development course to share the content.
