About Workday Implementation Phases

Overview

This article provides a brief overview of the Workday implementation phases across the Minnesota State system that affect employee and student processes.

Implementation Phases

Workday implementation is a part of the Minnesota State NextGen Project focused on replacing our current system of ISRS. The project has been broken up into two phases, the first focusing on human capital management (Human Resources and Finance functions) and the second focusing on student functions. 

Phase 1 (Complete): Finance and Human Resources

  • On July 1, 2024 Workday went live for Finance and Human Resources (HCM) functions.

Phase 2: Student

  • Work has begun on the implementation of Workday for student processes and is expected to go live in 2028-2029.
  • Find more information about Workday student and implementation timelines on the NextGen Hub website
  • All student related functions will remain as is within ISRS until Workday Student is fully implemented. The following processes will remain in ISRS at this time: 
    • Continuing Education and Customized Training
    • Curriculum-Term Course
    • Enrollment Management
    • Grades and Transcripts
    • Financial Aid
    • Student Registration
