D2L Brightspace: Add video or audio feedback to an Assignments submission

Question

How can I provide video or audio feedback on an Assignment submission in D2L Brightspace?

Overview

There are two options to explore:

  • Kaltura Capture app on your device
  • Express Capture through your web browser

Option 1: Kaltura Capture

First, create your video or audio feedback using the How to Kaltura Capture guide on our Media Space website.

Then, embed your video in the Assignment submission feedback textbox:

  1. Navigate to Assignments.
  2. Click the title of the Assignments folder.
  3. Click the name of the student or the file to go to the Submissions view page.
  4. In the Submissions view page, locate the feedback text box in the right lower part of the page.
  5. Click the + plus sign icon in the feedback text box navbar.
  6. Click the Insert Stuff option from the menu.
  7. In the pop-up window, scroll down and click My Media.
  8. Locate your feedback video, click the Embed button.
  9. Wait for preview to load, then click Insert.
  10. Click the Publish or Update button.

Option 2: Express Capture

To use the web browser based Express Capture in an Assignment submission feedback textbox:

  1. Navigate to Assignments.
  2. Click the title of the Assignments folder.
  3. Click the name of the student or the file to go to the Submissions view page.
  4. In the Submissions view page, locate the feedback text box in the right lower part of the page.
  5. Click the + plus sign icon in the feedback text box navbar.
  6. Click the Insert Stuff option from the menu.
  7. In the pop-up window, scroll down and click My Media.
  8. Click the Add New + button.
  9. Select Express Capture from the drop down menu. If prompted, click Allow or Yes to let your web browser use your camera and microphone.
  10. Select the items to record in your express capture: a.) web cam, b.) microphone, c.) screen capture
  11. Click the red circle button to record. Create your video. Click the red circle button again to stop the recording.
  12. Preview the recording and click the Use This button. The video will upload and process.
  13. Give the video a title and click the Save and Embed button. Note: It is helpful to use the semester, course, and student name in the title.
  14. Wait for preview to load, then click Insert.
  15. Click the Publish or Update button.
