D2L Brightspace: Tag someone in a Discussion using @Mentions

Question

What does the @Mentions feature do? How do I tag someone in a discussion? How can I get notified if someone mentions me in a discussion?

Overview

@Mentions allows you to tag others in a discussion thread or reply. When you tag someone they get a subscription alert notification with a link to the tagged thread or reply.

To use the @Mentions feature:

  1. Navigate to the Discussion Topic.
  2. Start a Thread or Reply.
  3. Enter a Subject.
  4. Click into the text box.
  5. Type the @ symbol and start typing the user's name you wish to tag.
  6. A menu of possible names will appear, click the name you wish to tag.
  7. Edit the rest of your thread or reply, then click Post.
