Retaking a Quiz with Incorrect Questions Only in D2L Brightspace

Overview

This article explains how instructors can configure a D2L Brightspace quiz so that students retake only the questions they previously answered incorrectly. This option is available when a quiz allows more than one attempt and helps students focus on improving areas where they struggled.

How-To

To set-up a quiz so students retake a D2L Brightspace quiz with incorrect questions only:

  1. Edit the Quiz.
  2. Click the arrow next to the Attempts & Completion widget to expand the widget.
  3. Click Manage Attempts.
  4. In the pop-up window, click the drop-down menu on Attempts Allowed and select 2 or more attempts from the menu. 
    1. By increasing the attempts allowed, a Retake Incorrect Questions Only box will appear.
  5. Click the check box by On new attempts, only allow answers for previously correct answers.
  6. Click the OK button.
  7. Click the Save and Close button.

Outcome

After completing these steps, students who retake the quiz will only be presented with questions they previously answered incorrectly, rather than the entire quiz.
