This article provides information about email sending limits for students and alumni.

Sending Limits

The sending limits for Students and Alumni email accounts in the Office 365 Shared Tenant are:

  • 100 external (i.e. out-of-tenant) e-mails sent within any 1 hour period.
  • 500 internal (i.e. inside-of-tenant) e-mails sent within any 1 hour period.
  • 1500 total e-mails sent within any 24 hour period.

Maximum Attachment Sizes

  • For Students using MavMail on the Web: 35 MB
  • Students using Outlook: 150 MB
  • For Alumni using MavMail on the Web: 35 MB

Maximum Mailbox Sizes

  • For Students: 100 GB 
  • For Alumni: 50 GB

Rationale

The purpose behind reducing sending limits is to help limit the ability of compromised accounts to inflict harm to other user accounts. It will additionally reduce necessary cleanup time and efforts after a phishing attack has occurred.
