Classroom Technology Standards and Specifications

Overview

This article is for reference in IT Solutions Learning Space Design requests and provides a basic list of standard technology equipment and specifications for classrooms, labs, and conference rooms on campus. 

Standard Equipment

Notes: Details may change based on how the faculty use the space and how furniture is integrated. 1.25” conduits with floor/wall boxes are expected. Technology is not allowed to be movable. 

Classrooms

  • Projector or Large Display for content
  • Large Display for Zoom technology
  • Accessible Teacher’s Station – Often combined with equipment Rack
  • Crestron Control Systems
  • Sound and Media Reinforcement (Ceiling)
  • Zoom System with ceiling mics and integration to sound system, 2 cameras
  • Document Camera

Large Classrooms or Auditoriums

  • Projector or Large Display for content
  • Large Display for Zoom technology
  • Accessible Teacher’s Station – Often combined with equipment Rack
  • Crestron Control Systems
  • Sound and Media Reinforcement (Ceiling)
  • Zoom System with ceiling mics and integration to sound system, 2 cameras
  • Document Camera
  • Microphone System
  • FM Assistive Tech

Computer Labs

  • Projector or Large Display for content
  • Large Display for Zoom technology
  • Accessible Teacher’s Station – Often combined with equipment Rack
  • Crestron Control Systems
  • Sound and Media Reinforcement (Ceiling)
  • Zoom System with ceiling mics and integration to sound system, 2 cameras
  • Document Camera
  • Powered Tables for computers

Collaborative Classrooms

  • Projector or Large Display for content
  • Large Display for Zoom technology
  • Accessible Teacher’s Station – Often combined with equipment Rack
  • Crestron Control Systems
  • Sound and Media Reinforcement (Ceiling)
  • Zoom System with ceiling mics and integration to sound system, 2 cameras
  • Document Camera
  • 1-2 screens at each group location
  • Wireless connections for each collaborative screen is located at the teacher's station with a matrix switcher, allowing the faculty member to show any content, anywhere.
  • Whiteboards between tables whenever possible.

Conference Rooms

  • Large Display
  • Integrated Zoom Hardware (Typically Polycomm x30/x50)
