Overview
Use Kaltura Capture to record your screen, webcam, or audio and upload directly to MediaSpace.
Who this is for: Students, faculty, and staff
You’ll need: Your StarID and password, a computer with a microphone (and camera, if using webcam)
How-To
- Navigate to MediaSpace
- Login using your StarID and Password
- Username (Students): StarID@go.minnstate.edu
- Username (Employees): StarID@minnstate.edu
- Password: Your StarID password
- Click the Create button
- Click Capture. This will prompt you to download a recorder.
- Find the window entitled Kaltura Capture on your computer
- Select the appropriate recording inputs and press Start Recording (red button) to begin a recording
- Screen: This option will record your computer screen as well as audio through your microphone
- Webcam: This option will record your webcam and audio through your microphone
- Voice: This will only record audio through your microphone
- A 5 second countdown will begin before Kaltura Capture begins recording
- When finished recording, click Stop Recording
- Kaltura Capture entry fields will appear. Make edits to video title and description., and click Save & Upload
- Your media will now process and be available momentarily on the MediaSpace server. Note that a back up of the recording is available on your computer via this Kaltura Capture Application.
Outcome
Your recording has been successfully saved and uploaded to Kaltura. This is our preferred method for recording videos to Mediaspace for Windows and Mac users because a back up of the video remains on your local device.
