Fixing ISRS Side by Side Configuration Error

Issue Description

ISRS is giving a side by side error that indicates "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."

Possible Causes

This ISRS error happens when a computer doesn't have Visual Studio C++ 2005 x86 installed.

Resolution

Install Visual Studio C++ 2005 x86 to fix the issue.

  1. Navigate to one of the following locations to complete the installation:
    • MavDISK (on campus):
      1. Press the windows key and the R together on the keyboard to get the run box.
      2. Enter \\mavdisk\software\Staff\Microsoft\Visual C++\Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 - x86-x64\Source
      3. Double click on vcredist_x86.exe.
      4. Follow the prompts on the installer.
    • Or, download from the web:
      1. Navigate to the Microsoft Visual C++ Installation Page
      2. Run the installer and follow the prompts.
  2. Run ISRS. Note: You will need administrator rights to install the software.
