Finding IP Address on a Mac

This article explains how to find an IP address on a Mac computer.

How-To

To locate your IP address:

  1. Open the Apple menu and select System Preferences.

  2. Select Network.

    • You can double‑click the Network icon or choose Network from the View menu.

  3. In the Network settings, select your active connection on the left:

    • Ethernet for wired connections

    • Wi-Fi for wireless connections

  4. Your IP address will be displayed in the main panel of the window.
