D2L Brightspace: Error uploading to Assignments or Content

Overview

When I am trying to upload into Content or an Assignments folder I am getting an error that says, "Oops there was a problem." What can I do to upload my file?

Resolution

The most common reason a file cannot be uploaded is because the file name contains a special character. Change the file name to resolve the issue:

  1. Open the file that you are trying to upload.
  2. Locate and click Save As and give the file a new name.
  3. Enter a new name that does NOT contain any special characters (The title cannot include: / \ & * < > : ' " * ?). The title can include numbers and letters.
  4. Assure the file name does NOT begin with a space.
  5. Upload the new file into Content or into the Assignments submission folder.

Note:  If the file won't open, the file is probably corrupt and unfortunately will probably need to be recreated.
