Overview
If you receive the error message “Oops, there was a problem” when uploading a file to Content or an Assignments folder, the issue is often related to the file name. Special characters or formatting in the file name can prevent the upload from completing successfully.
How-To
Change the file name to resolve the issue:
- Open the file that you are trying to upload.
- Locate and click Save As and give the file a new name.
- Enter a new name that does NOT contain any special characters (The title cannot include: / \ & * < > : ' " * ?). The title can include numbers and letters.
- Assure the file name does NOT begin with a space.
- Upload the new file into Content or into the Assignments submission folder.
Note: If the file won't open, the file is probably corrupt and unfortunately will probably need to be recreated.
Outcome
After renaming the file using only letters and numbers and uploading it again, the file should upload successfully. If the file still cannot be uploaded, it may be corrupted and need to be recreated.
