Overview
This article outlines how to resolve a 500 Internal Server Error encountered when accessing VALT after a user has changed their StarID.
Issue
After a StarID change, some users may receive a 500 Internal Server Error when attempting to log in to VALT. This issue is typically related to cached credentials or an incorrect relogin value associated with the user’s VALT account.
Resolution Steps
-
Clear browser cache
Have the user clear their browser cache and retry the login.
-
Restart the workstation
This ensures any cached authentication sessions are fully cleared.
-
Verify VALT login value (Admin check)
If the issue persists:
- Confirm the user’s VALT login field contains only the StarID
- Remove any email address, domain, or legacy username values
- Save changes and have the user attempt to log in again
Notes
- This error is not password-related
- The issue is most commonly reported immediately following a StarID change
- Admin verification resolves the issue in most cases
Outcome
Once cached credentials are cleared and the VALT login value is verified, the user should be able to access VALT without error.
