Using Firefox or Safari to embed LinkedIn Learning videos into D2L Brightspace

These are additional instructions for the procedures outlined in the Embedding LinkedIn Learning Videos in a D2L Brightspace Course knowledge article for those who wish to use Firefox or Safari rather than the recommended Google Chrome (for this procedure only).

In order to use either Firefox or Safari web browsers to embed LinkedIn Learning videos into a D2L Brightspace Course, you must first adjust the tracking settings on the browsers that may prevent the pop-up content from displaying.

Firefox

  1. Open up a Firefox browser window and navigate to the D2L Brightspace homepage.
  2. Next to the navigation bar, click on the shield icon that is to the left of the lock icon. You should see that the Enhanced Tracking Protection for This Site is toggled on.  Enhanced Tracking Protection Toggle Button in Firefox
  3. Toggle that button to the Off position.
  4. Sign into D2L Brightspace and navigate to the course where you want to embed the LinkedIn Learning videos.
  5. Follow the instructions outlined in the Embedding LinkedIn Learning Videos in a D2L Brightspace Course knowledge article.
  6. For security purposes, you may want to follow these procedures to turn the feature on again once you have finished embedding the videos.

Safari

  1. Open up a Safari browser window and navigate to the D2L Brightspace homepage.
  2. At the top of your screen, click on the Safari drop-down menu and click Preferences.
  3. Click on the Privacy Tab of the Preference pop-up window. You should see that the Prevent cross-site tracking has a checkmark next to it.  
  4. Click that check mark to turn that feature off. Safari prevent cross-site tracking option
  5. Sign into D2L Brightspace and navigate to the course where you want to embed the LinkedIn Learning videos.
  6. Follow the instructions outlined in the Embedding LinkedIn Learning Videos in a D2L Brightspace Course knowledge article.
  7. For security purposes, you may want to follow these procedures to turn the feature on again once you have finished embedding the videos.
