Setting up Outlook with a Department Email Account

Overview

This article is for employees and provides step by step instructions to set up Outlook for a department email address that the user has access to.

How-To

  1. Click on the start button.
  2. Type Control Panel and Click on Control Panel.
  3. If needed in the upper right corner change View By: to Small icons.
  4. Locate and double click on Mail (32-bit) or Mail (Microsoft Outlook) icon.
  5. Click on Show Profiles.
  6. Select Prompt for a profile to be used.
  7. Click Add.
  8. Enter a name for the profile.  This is used to identify the account.
  9. Clear the Email Address: box and enter the email address you want to add.
  10. Enter your StarID password in the Password and Retype Password boxes.
  11. Click Next.
  12. It will start searching for the mailbox, once it locates it a log in box appears. Enter your email address.
    • Students, Alumni and Emeriti: StarID@go.minnstate.edu​​​​​​
    • Faculty and Staff: StarID@minnstate.edu
  13. You may need to repeat step 11 again if it prompts for your login information. If not proceed to step 13.
  14. Click Finish.
  15. Close any open windows that are open from the Mail app or control panel.
  16. Start Outlook and select the profile you created up above.
  17. Login with your StarID@campus.mnsu.edu and your password.

Outcome

Outlook will be set up with the department email account.
