Back Up Outlook Rules (Windows)

Question

How do I back up or export Outlook rules? 

Overview

Backup Outlook Rules (Windows):

  1. Click the File tab
  2. Click Manage Rules & Alerts
  1. Click Options

Note: All the rules listed here will be backed up, not just the selected rules

  1. Click Export Rules
  1. In the File name box, type the path and file name for the set of rules that you want to export (i.e. OutlookRules.rwz)
  2. Click Save
  3. Once you've backed up your rules, click OK on both the Options and Rules and Alerts dialog boxes to return to the main Mail screen

 

Restore Outlook Rules (Windows):

  1. Click on the File tab
  2. Click Manage Rules & Alerts
  1. Click Options
  2. Click Import Rules
  1. In the File name box, locate the backup of your rules and select the backup
  2. Click Open
  3. Once you've restored your rules, click OK on both the Options and Rules and Alerts dialog boxes to return to the main Mail screen
