Transferring Files with MoveItSecurely

MoveItSecurely is provided to all Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to securely transfer files between one or more individuals. By default, files that are sent will remain for 14 days. MoveItSecurely is validated by the Federal government (FIPS 140-2). and utilizes 256-bit AES encryption.

The processes outlined below will walk through how to send and receive a package with MovieItSecurely. 

Instructions

Sending a Package via MoveItSecurely 

1. Open a web browser and navigate to https://securefileshare.minnstate.edu 
2. Login with your StarID and password 
3. From the Home page, select Send Package
4. Enter desired email address and subject, drag and drop files or select Upload Files 
5. Select Send to send package 

NOTE: If the receiver of the package doesn't have a MoveItSecurely account, one will be created for them, and you will receive a username and password to send them so they can log in.

Receiving a Package via MoveItSecurely 

1. You will receive an email notifying you of a new package 
2. Click the link to the MoveItSecurely webpage 
3. Logon, (if this is your first time logging in, you may be asked to change your password) 
4. Upon login, a new message and or attachments for download should be displayed 

NOTE: If a faculty member uses MoveItSecurely to send to a student, the student must have their college email set as their preferred email in order to receive the message.  In addition, users who do not have a StarID must receive a first-time username and password from the person sending the message over MoveItSecurely before they will be able to access it.
