How do I setup my Android device with MavMAIL?

Settings At a Glance
- Email Address: firstname.lastname@mnsu.edu
- Domain/username:
- Students, Alumni and Emeriti: yourStarID@go.minnstate.edu
- Faculty and Staff: yourStarID@minnstate.edu
- Exchange Server: outlook.office365.com
SAMSUNG ONLY
Office 365
- Open Settings on your smartphone
- Navigate to your Accounts (or Accounts and backup, then Manage accounts) and press Add Account
- Select Email and press Office 365
NOTE: If you do not see an option for "Office 365", go into accounts from the Email app and add the account (See Email app below)
- Type your MavMAIL e-mail address and StarID password
- You may see a screen that says Permissions requested. You will need to tap on Accept
- Scroll through the settings and change any options to your preferences. Once you have selected all the options that you would like, scroll down to the bottom, and press Next
- After tapping Accept, your mail account should be all set up. You change the default name of the account as seen below
Exchange
1. Open Settings on your smartphone
2. Navigate to your Accounts and press Add Account
3. Select Email and press Exchange
4. Enter your information as it is requested.
- Your Email address will be your University credentials:
- Your password will be your StarID password
- If the automatic set up does not work, try selecting the Manual setup instead
- The Exchange Server will be outlook.office365.com
- Check the box for Use secure connection (SSL)
- Once this information has been entered, press Next
- A screen will prompt you to ask you to Apply security features, press Apply
- Scroll through the settings and change any options to your preferences. Once you have selected all the options that you would like, scroll down to the bottom, and press Next
NOTE: Different versions of Android or different manufacturers of phones may look slightly different, however the settings should remain the same.
SAMSUNG ONLY
Office 365
- Open Settings on your smartphone
- Navigate to your Accounts and press Add Account
- Select Email and press Office 365
NOTE: If you do not see an option for Office 365, go into accounts from the Email app and add the account
- Type your MavMAIL e-mail address and StarID password

Exchange Active Sync
1. Open Settings on your smartphone
2. Navigate to your Accounts and press Add Account
3. Select Email and press Exchange Active Sync
4. Enter your information as it is requested.
- Your Email address will be your University credentials:
- Your password will be your StarID password
- You will need to approve Multi-factor authentication.
- If the automatic set up does not work, try selecting the Manual setup instead
- The Exchange Server will be outlook.office365.com
- Check the box for Use secure connection (SSL)
- Once this information has been entered, press Next
- A screen will prompt you to ask you to Apply security features, press Apply
- Scroll through the settings and change any options to your preferences. Once you have selected all the options that you would like, scroll down to the bottom, and press Next
NOTE: If you already have an e-mail account set up, we recommend removing the account and re-adding it following the instructions above.
Samsung Email App
1. Open the Email app and select the pancake icon next to Inbox. Then press the Gear in the upper right corner.
2. In Email Settings, press + Add Account
3. Press Office365
4. Enter your information as it is requested.
- Your Email address will be your University credentials:
- Your password will be your StarID password
- You will need to approve Multi-factor authentication.
5. Select Accept to approve administrator settings. (This will provide a way that you can wipe the information from your phone if it is ever lost or stolen.)
6. Select your preference for how many days of email and calendar meetings will be synced to your phone.
7. Select your account name (MavMAIL for example) and press Done.
