Question

How do I connect to eduroam from an android phone or tablet? For more information please visit our eduroam Page.

Overview

eduroam is the preferred secure Wi-Fi network for all students, faculty and staff of MSU to use with their personally owned devices. Enroll your device to enjoy Wi-Fi access throughout this campus as well as other eduroam-participating institutions.

To connect your Android device to eduroam, you must have an active StarID account and Internet access. MavGUEST or MavNET can be used if available.

  2. A notification should appear in the notification bar > To view the notification scroll downwards from the top of your phone
  3. Tap on the down arrow next to the notification called Android System Connect to Wi-Fi networks? Suggest by JoinNow MultiOS

  1. Tap on Yes

  1. eduroam should then connect successfully if eduroam is available where your Android device is located.

The installer will attempt to forget the MavNET, MavGUEST and MavNet-Encrypted networks if they have been used before. Forgetting the other networks is desirable to ensure that the device will prefer to use eduroam whenever it is on campus. To check this:

  1. Click on the Settings icon on the top right and tap on Connections > Wi-Fi > select MavNETand tap on the gear icon to the right
  2. Tap on Forget on the bottom right
  3. Repeat the process for MavNet-Encrypted and MavGUEST

Your Android device is now set up to use eduroam. It will work wherever you are throughout the world that an eduroam network is available if you are a current student or employee at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Changing your StarID password will not require any Wi-Fi related updates on your Android device.
