Overview
The article gives an overview of MavPRINT, a student printing service at Minnesota State University, Mankato that offers complimentary printing as a part of the Student Technology Fee. It outlines how students can access printers, manage their printing funds, and what happens when they exceed their balance or are no longer enrolled.
What is MavPRINT?
MavPRINT is a student printing service available to all currently-enrolled students. MavPRINT provides students use of over 40 printers at various locations throughout the Mankato and Edina campuses as well as residence halls including Stadium Heights Residence Community.
Printing Funds
As part of the Student Technology Fee, MavPRINT provides 400 pages ($20.00 value) of black and white or a number of color pages per semester. Students can continue to print after the complementary pages have been used, however the student will need to reimburse the university for any additional printing beyond $20.00 each semester.
Funds Replenishment
MavPRINT funds replenish every semester as part of the Student Technology Fee. $20.00 is added to each student that has paid a Student Technology Fee the Friday before the start of the upcoming semester/term. Students who have not paid a Student Technology Fee, or who have paid the fee late, will have a $0.00 balance. Students enrolling late who register for at least one credit after the Friday before the start of the upcoming semester will have a $0.00 balance and will have to request to have $20.00 added to their account after enrollment is verified.
Printing Limits
Printing Beyond 400 pages (or $20.00)
Students will receive a warning email when the balance is less than $5, and again at $0 remaining. Students can continue to print using MavPRINT, however the remaining expense will be billed to the student's university account at the end of the semester and must be paid back to the university.
Printing Maximum
Students will be emailed and printing will be suspended when the student account reaches -$50. This is to prevent the student from building a balance that will be difficult to repay. Students must pay a portion or the full balance at the Cashier's office to continue to print using MavPRINT.
Suspended Printing
Students who withdraw and are no longer enrolled in the current semester will have their MavPRINT account disabled. The disabled account users may see an error on the MavPRINT station when they try to log in telling them they are already logged in and they will not be able to print or use the MavPRINT station.
