Enabling Live Transcription on Zoom Phone

Overview

Live transcription mode refers to a feature that automatically converts spoken words in a meeting into text in real-time, displaying the transcript as subtitles on the screen for participants to read, essentially providing live captions during a Zoom call; this feature can be enabled by the meeting host.

How-To

Enable live transcription for Zoom calls or meetings.

Mobile App

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. On the top right, click on your profile picture or name initials.
  3. Click  Settings.
  4. In the Settings window, click Phone.
  5. Under Live transcript settings, select Automatically start Live Transcript when in a call.

Desktop App

  1. When in a Zoom Meeting, click the Show Captions button on the bottom of your Zoom Meeting window. 
  2. Select your language 
  3. Click the upward arrow character and select Full Transcript

Note: To disable auto-transcription, click the Hide Captions button

Outcome

After completing these steps, live transcription will display real-time captions or a full transcript during Zoom calls or meetings based on your selected settings.
