New Hire Email Address Creation Timeline

Learn when new hire employees (including faculty, staff, adjuncts, and concurrent enrollment instructors) receive their university email address and how to access it using Outlook. Timing is based on profile completion in Workday and official start dates.

New Hire Training Information

The Required Annual Compliance Training Program ensures all new and recently re-hired employees complete seven essential modules within 30 days of enrollment to promote a safe, respectful, and policy-compliant workplace. Training is accessed through the State of Minnesota Self Service Portal and must be completed during scheduled work hours.

Orientation

New hires receive access to Employee Self‑Service within 2–3 weeks of their start date, allowing them to manage payroll and benefits enrollment, and benefit‑eligible employees are invited to a New Hire Benefits Orientation, with benefits beginning on the 31st day. They are also encouraged to attend onboarding sessions introducing key campus departments, with both in‑person and virtual options available; questions can be directed to Human Resources.
